Winners of "Golden MedSkill"

The large-scale All-Russian Olympiad with international participation for the best students of medical universities in Russia “Golden MedSkill” is not just a competition, it is a demonstration of a high level of practical training and theoretical knowledge of future medical specialists.

The team of Saratov State Medical University once again confirmed its leadership position, confidently entering the top three winners of the Olympiad. “The quality of education and practical training at our university is extremely high. This is also noted by the expert community; this is also proven by the results of various professional student competitions. Deep and extensive theoretical training, thorough work out of practical skills using high-class and realistic simulators allows our students to demonstrate brilliant results at competitions of various levels year after year,” Rector Andrey Eremin considers.

This year the Olympiad brought together 25 of the best student teams from Russia and foreign countries (Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan).

Participants had to go through seven stations, at each of which they demonstrated different practical skills. At one of the stations, students had to solve a clinical problem and make the correct diagnosis by asking the patient only three leading questions. On the other - to provide emergency medical care; on the third - to take a smear for cytology and solve a clinical problem in gynecology; on a surgical task – to perform Z-plasty (transposition of flaps to relieve tension at the site where the operation was performed). Participants also took tests on dermatovenerology, did tasks on breast cancer screening, and took a master class on cardiology.

The SSMU team, which consisted of students from medical and pediatric faculties (Nikita Arinushkin, Ulyana Vishnyakova, Ilya Khalizov, Margarita Fedoseeva, Irina Vakulenko) under the leadership of Ekaterina Matveeva, demonstrated extensive knowledge and excellent practical training, which allowed to become one of the winners confidently.
