Clinic of Skin and Venereal Diseases

Founded in 1912, the Clinic of Skin and Venereal Diseases builds upon a century-long tradition of excellence in research, education, and clinical care. The Clinic includes highly qualified clinicians, faculty researchers, and associates involved in providing healthcare services and conducting research in dermatology, venereology, allergology, immunology, toxicology, and traditional medicine. With 215 licensed beds, the Clinic offers its patients high quality medical service in comfortable wards. The Clinic serves as a teaching facility for the Medical University Departments of Skin and Venereal Diseases, Clinical Allergology and Immunology, and Psychiatry.

The Clinic includes the Pediatric Department, two Departments of Dermatology and Mycology, the Skin and Venereal Diseases Department, and the Narcology Department. Their medical staff specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a variety of medical conditions, such as allergic contact dermatitis, psoriasis, genodermatosis, severe refractory dermatosis, and infectious skin diseases. These disorders and conditions are treated with photochemotherapy (using photosensitizers for external and internal application); narrowband medium and distant long-wave ultraviolet therapy (using Waldmann photo booths), and membrane plasmapheresis. The Center of Anticytokine Therapies administers treatment using the latest biopharmaceuticals. The Clinic’s venereologists address treatment and management of Reiter’s syndrome, genitourinary disorders, syphilis, and sexually transmitted diseases.

The Clinic is equipped with modern equipment for general and selective photochemotherapy for external and internal application of photosensitizers to treat patients with psoriasis, scleroderma, atopic dermatitis, and lichen planus. Narrowband medium and distant long-wave ultraviolet therapy is conducted using high-tech medical systems. Local and general balneologic photochemotherapy is conducted in PUVA baths. Photoradiation therapy is administered using Waldmann phototherapy systems, and Zepter Bioptron Light Therapy System is used in light therapy treatment.

In the Allergy Unit, highly qualified allergists and immunologists provide highest standard of consultation and care to patients of all ages. They offer a full range of medical services: skin and challenge tests with different types of allergens, immunological diagnostic tests, and allergen-specific IgE testing (drug, food, and airborne allergens, immunoblotting tests) using RIDA® AllergyScreen. Pulmonary function tests (including challenge tests and bronchial challenge tests using PariProvotest II) are carried out in order to accurately diagnose and choose an effective treatment for patients with respiratory diseases.

The Cosmetic Therapy Center’s highly qualified medical staff offers their clients a wide range of services: relaxing therapeutic and beauty treatments, skin care, body contouring, hair care, mesotherapy, wrinkle filling, hair removal, different types of massage, body wraps, and plastic surgery rehabilitation services. The Center conducts myostimulation, cryotherapy, removal of moles, port-wine stains, venous lakes, papillomas, warts, skin lesions and growths treatment and management, and dermabrasion procedures using СOSMOMED DERM-O-MAT ВЕАUTY system. The Hair Care and Treatment Unit uses Trichoprogram system to maintain and enhance the wellness of their clients’ hair and skin.

The Narcology Department provides care to patients with different types of substance abuse and offers a range of medicinal and psychological, and physiotherapy treatments (including electrosleep therapy, Scherbak’s galvanic collar, herbal baths, UHF-therapy, magnet therapy, and Infita therapy), and membrane plasmapheresis.
