An incoming exchange student under the IFMSA program

Kristina Trinkinets as an exchange student has been undergoing a 4-week clinical internship at the Department of Emergency and Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Care of Saratov Medical University since April, 1. She came to SSMU under the IFMSA international student exchange program.

A 4th-year student at the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy n.a. Testemitianu from the Republic of Moldova came to Saratov Medical University for a clinical exchange. Christina’s practice took place at the Department of Emergency and Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Care of Clinical Hospital No. 1. Under the guidance of experienced coordinators, she had got a unique opportunity to take part in the procedures of induction and rehabilitation from anesthesia, monitoring the patient’s condition during the operation, and to study the features of the approach to patients in Russian clinics. She actively communicated with colleagues being immersed into the professional environment.

In addition to clinical practice at Saratov State Medical University, the guest of our city got acquainted with the cultural life and the architecture of the university and Saratov itself. Together with medical students, Christina was invited to visit the city competition “Miss and Mister Students”, walked along the Volga Embankment and Stolypin Avenue. She was also impressed by the memorial exhibitions of Victory Park on Sokolovaya Hill, the National Village and Park of Space Invadors n.a. Yu. Gagarin.

Thanks to the IFMSA exchange program, SSMU students also have the opportunity to get acquainted with the practical healthcare system of other countries and their cultures. For our students, such exchange programms are an important step in professional development and expansion of horizons.
