International Multicultural Day

Saratov State Medical University is a multinational university, hosting students from 59 countries across the world. Activists of the SSMU International Club held a bright event, the main goal of which is joining together people of different cultures, studying at the university, and breaking down the walls of misunderstanding each other.

All students showed off their talents. Such countries as Haiti, Palestine, Egypt, South Africa, Cameroon, Uganda, India, Indonesia, Botswana, Algeria, Côte d'Ivoire and Gabon were represented by the participants. The club members presented their countries, spoke about their main historical events, sights, talked about culture and traditions, sang songs in their native languages and performed their national dances. All performances were met with thunderous applause.

The International Multicultural Day was held in three languages — Russian, English and French. Activists of the International Club were interpreters.

The event was organized by Sheikh Saadia, the coordinator of the Creative Department of the International Club of the SSMU, an Indian student of the Department of International Education.

The event was hosted by students from the Department of International Education: Priyanka Hussain (India), Bunjo Ezekiel Makabugo Ronald (Uganda) and Kamogano Pule (Botswa).

In conclusion, an online audience vote was held. Carol Ascentia Tabete from South Africa won the title “Best female event”, Orll Gerard from Haiti won the title “Best male event” and the Gabon dancers won the title “Best group event”.

The Head of the Department of International Education — Deputy Head of the Department of International Cooperation, Olga Opredelennova, the Head of the Department of Russian and Latin Languages, Larisa Prokofieva, and the Head of the Department for Public Relations and Youth Affairs, Alexandra Zhivaikina, addressed all students with warm words of support.

At the end of the event, the winners received memorable prizes. The International Multicultural Day will remain in the hearts of all participants and spectators for a long time.
